CHATEAU LA MISSION, LALANDE-DE-POMEROL
Château La Mission in Lalande-de-Pomerol belongs to the Garde-Lasserre family, who have also owned Clos René and Moulinet-Lasserre in Pomerol for several generations.
Situated on the south-western part of the appellation bordering the famous Pomerol appellation, the Merlot and Cabernet Francs are planted on an excellent terroir of clay with a ferruginous underlayer and silt.
The name "La Mission" dates back to the time of the Crusades, when knights passed through the Pomerol region on their way to more distant lands in the Mediterranean. It was customary for them, when they stopped, to pray in front of the cross of La Mission still present on the property.
