DOMAINE THIERRY MORTET GEVREY CHAMBERTIN
Explore this prestigious appellation comprising approximately twenty plots spanning 3 hectares.
Those vines, aged between 20 to 60 years, thrive on diverse clay-limestone soils, ranging from stony and marly to rocky substrates. With meticulous attention, 30% of ageing occurs in new barrels for 16-17 months, while 70% matures in vats for 5 months before transferring to older barrels for 11-12 months.
The artful blending of new and older barrels culminates at bottling, ensuring a harmonious balance of flavours and textures in every sip
TheĀ Domaine Thierry MortetĀ Vineyard
Thierry started in 1992 with a 4-hectare vineyard. It now measures 7 hectares (17.5 acres) and produces 85% red wine and 15% white wine. The vineyards spread over four villages: Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Couchey and Daix (west of Dijon).
Thierry Mortet uses classic winemaking techniques: pre-fermentation maceration for 3 or 4 days, total fermentation time of 2 weeks. The grapes are harvested by hand, are sorted and are 100% de-stemmed. The result is expressive, full-bodied, generous, pure wines.
Starting with the 2010 vintage, the Estate is certified Organic.
