MARK HAISMA CORNAS
Mark Haisma - “All the wonderful sentiments and emotions I have about chardonnay, pinot noir and the other guys should be justified for Burgundy and not translatable to the Rhône. But I seem to transpose precisely how I think about Burgundy onto the Rhône and this vastly different region. I’m not sure I have ever wanted to talk about Syrah in terms of power, I have always searched out the finer more elegant features of this most royal of grape varieties.
In 2021 we have got an absolute beauty, the purity and finesse are lavished upon you once the nose comes to the glass. Again this is about the vineyard, old vines and a restrained hand.”

black fruits. Ripe, but freshly lifted aroma. |

Fresh and open, creamy and concentrated, an oak note in the middle. |
“Deepish crimson. Vibrant, peppery, pure dark fruit. It’s both floral and smoky/savoury. Dark and peppery on the palate too. Tannins are firm but already surprisingly smooth and build to a chewy finish. Needs time. Deep in classic and refined Cornas black fruit. (JH)” Drink 2026-2035 - Jancis Robinson 17+
