LA CADETTE JULIENAS
Juliénas is a cru region of Beaujolais with the magic granitic soils and this wine is a beautiful expression of that region. The grapes for this wine were picked from ancient vines (70 to 90 years old) in the communes of Juliénas and neighbouring Jullié.

"The wines of La Cadette come from the Burgundian historical terroir of Vézelay. The very first traces of wine production in this part of France date back to Roman times, which is evidence that tradition has been constantly able to adjust to change. To produce such quality wines, the Montanets have adopted organic principles. Note that their wines are certified as organic.
The grapes are picked by hand with great respect for the environment. The philosophy of the domain is to “compose” wines in connection with the soil type, the topography, the grape varieties and the microbial life of the soils i.e. making wines by combining what nature has to offer with the winegrower’s personality.--- The wines of La Cadette represent a brand which groups together two estates: La Cadette, Montanet Thoden and a vinification business: La Soeur Cadette.
With Burgundy ravaged by frost, Winemaker Valentin looked to the south to purchase grapes in order to supplement his production and make up some of the lost profit. This decision also gave him a chance to vinify Beaujolais, an idea he had long entertained. Sourced from an organically farmed vineyard on granite soil, this Juliénas is textbook cruBeaujolais: very aromatic with loads of fresh Gamay fruit, it flows over the palate with a juicy buoyancy that makes it hard to resist. Highly recommended!"
