The NV Franciacorta '61 Brut Satèn (disgorged in 2018) shows citrusy characteristics that are central to the wine's identity and appeal. Those zesty notes are followed by softer contours that recall peach and honeydew melon. This sparkling Satèn expression (made with 100% Chardonnay) offers a level of smooth softness and silkiness that you only get here. Some 160,000 bottles were produced. Monica Larner
