DOMAINE PHILIPPE COLIN CHASSAGNE-MONTRACHET
Philippe Colinās heritage runs deeply in Chassagne-Montrachet, which inhabits only 300 residents. His father, Michel Colin-DelĆ©gerās lineage traces back on both sides of the family to the 1850ās when their ancestors settled in the area. āI work a lot with terroirā, he says. āEach terroir, each plot, is very different. We have six-seven Chassagne-Montrachet premier crus in the family and it is very important to identify all of them. Iām always looking for terroirs we donāt have. A few years ago I made some Les EmbrazĆ©es to see the difference in terroir. It is important to get to know all the terroirs in Chassagne-Montrachet.ā
The 15 vineyards cultivated for this village wine are planted in limestone and calcareous clay soils with a high clay content, located just below the slopes of the Premier Cru vineyards of Chassagne-Montrachet. The vines range in age from 35-40 years old.

The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet is a lovely introduction to Colin's style, wafting from the glass with aromas of yellow orchard fruit, honeycomb and a subtle touch of praline. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and succulent, with a generous core of vibrant fruit and a nicely defined finish. This will offer a broad drinking window. William Kelley
