ARLEQUIN SHIRAZ BAROSSA VALLEY
Arlequin Shiraz is produced from the grapes grown on the floor of the Barossa Valley. The wine was de-stemmed, crushed and fermented in open concrete tanks. When the fermentation process finished, the juice was pumped off and stored in stainless steel tanks. The skins were shovelled out of the concrete tanks and placed in the basket press where a heavy press extracted all of the juice and flavour from the skins. This juice was added to the stainless steel tank and after 4 weeks was placed in 300litre French Oak barrels. The wine remained in the barrels for 14 months. The oak was new oak and this shows in the flavour of the wine. In time the oak will diminish and the wine flavours and oak will integrate.
